21st – 27th January!
21/365 – Sunday 21st January
Sunday is sock day. There are five of us in the house and every one of us wears black socks! I have had to resort to buying different styles/patterns for each of us to make pairing them easier, still my most hated laundry job though. And why do I always have so many odd socks left over!!
22/365 – Monday 22nd January
The aftermath of Storm Isha. The felt came off the shed roof and our next door neighbours fence – the one that wasn’t on my storm bingo card – blew over! Eek! He is hardly home I have no idea when he will be around to speak to about fixing it. Having said there is another storm coming Tuesday so no point doing anything until it’s all passed.
23/365 – Tuesday 23rd January
Finally managed to get my hands on these! I am not a huge lover of ice cream at the best of times anyway, but nice to have one every now and then. And these can last in freezer for ashes as no one else will eat them because ‘eew it’s vegan’ sometimes is great being the only vegan in the house.
24/365 – Wednesday 24th January
Well Storm Jocyln decided to have another go at the fence, this is what we woke up to today. Honestly anyone in the fencing business is going to making a mint over the coming weeks with repairs! Just need the neighbour to come home at some point to see his poor fence. We managed to move the back bit by pushing back into his garden so it’s not leaning on the other fence and the posts are rotted so its not going to be a patch job, probably looking at a whole new fence, just hope no more storms as the part still standing it not going to hold through another 50mph storm!
25/365 – Thursday 25th January
Happy Burns night! M has been busy practicing his Burns poem ‘Address to the Haggis’ for a few weeks at school and he came home with this today. Its not one of the easiest of his works to do, and even I struggled with some of the pronunciations but M smashed it! He had to recite the whole thing yesterday to some teachers and then again at the P7 ‘s Burns Supper lunch with three of his other classmates who also got picked.
26/365 – Friday 26th January
Preparing to fix the felt on the shed once the rain stops, hubby got the wonderful idea to buy a nail/stapler gun and honestly just got to love the middle Ailes in Adli for stuff like this. I have several power tools from Aldi and I can’t fault them for the price they have lasted me ages so I cant wait to test this out on the shed.
27/365 – Saturday 27th January
Well I spoke to soon! The nail gun we got was a bust, we managed a couple of nails before it just stop firing. We did a trouble shoot and couldn’t work out why, there was no nails stuck and it wouldn’t even work with the staples. So it’s going back. We gave up trying to fix the shed roof then it started raining so it obviously wasn’t meant to be today.
We all wear different style socks just to make the pairing easier but there’s still loads of odd one’s left over!
Ugh! That’s a shame about the storm damage. I hope it gets replaced soon.

That is rubbish about the nail gun, the tools from Aldi are usually quite good. x
Those look like my sock pile lol. The storms have been relentless I feel like we are not getting a break at all. even days they say ar ok are gusting to 40+ up here
We could’ve down with our shed roof blowing off as we need to start taking it down this week. The neighbours fence post snapped, hubby has tried a repair and propped it up for them while we wait for them to get it repaired.
Oh no that’s annoying about the staple gun. I remember as kids our garden fences were always down until my mum got really good ones rather than the panels. Thankfully we don’t have full fences like that so ours stay up. I think we got off lightly here.
