A new year, a new month and 365 days to do something new…… or so those memes tell us. If last year was anything to go by then I am not putting much stock in life being even remotely normal or back to how it used to be anytime soon.
I totally gave up blogging last year as I was just plodding along everyday doing the same thing but being forced to stay at home to save lives.
2020 was the start of new decade and with it came my generations first (and let’s face it – it will not be the last) global pandemic – COVID-19 infected the world bringing everything to a stand still and even now a year later we are still floundering – relaxed restrictions one min to full blown lockdown overnight – we don’t know if we are coming or going, there doesn’t seem to be an ‘end’ date in sight for the country to get back to normal and the economy going again.
So for this month what do I have in mind – well for starters I am looking at having to homeschooling the three kids until at least February as we are currently in tier 4 lockdown with restrictions that make it feel more a like a tier 5 – the schools are closed and home learning will be done remotely – I am already feeling stress and anxiety at trying to get the kids to do any work but my Mental Health Nurse (MHN) has reminded me that anything they do is better than nothing and that I am not a teacher and all our mental wellbeing comes first. The home learning we had to do last year almost broke me, but I am hoping with the whole something is better than nothing approach that it will be easier for me….
For January I have decided to not make any goals, resolutions or anything of that kind, and just try and not let my anxiety get the better of me and if I manage to do any decluttering or decorating (things that I want to actually to do over the course of this year – and have been trying to do for ages!) then so be it. Hopefully come February the schools will be back and places like the refuse site will be open so that I can actually get any and all the clutter out of the house!
