Review

If you love ‘Vikings‘ and ‘The Last Kingdom‘ then you are going to love this book!

The Last King is bloody, there is lots of fighting and from the get go lots of adult language – mostly F*ck – so if you are not partial to any of that then this may not be the book for you, however that being said, for me it was a welcome change to the cozy, clean mystery or romance that I normally read, so I found this a great gritty read.

The story is immersive, the battles are bloody and the characters are so life like you fell you are right there in midst of it all. Porter has done an amazing job at bring this historical fiction to life in such as way that the reader can’t help but feel a part of the action. This book is bloody as I have already said and to be honest there is no other way to tell a tale from this era without the bloody battled that ensued, its true to history and as I am fresh off of watching Viking and The Last Kingdom I found this book thrilling to say the least.

The characters, the setting – in fact everything – I just loved!

Rating: 4 out of 5.
