Top 5 90s Horror Movies

Check out my top 5 movies from the 1970’s and 1980’s. This week it is turn of the 1990’s, now there were some good ones during this decade and it was hard to pick my top 5 (in fact it has been hard for all the decades so far so I feel more posts coming up.)

1. BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA (1992)

Synopsis; From Academy Award®-winning director Francis Ford Coppola (1974 Best Director, The Godfather: Part II) comes the classic and chilling tale about the devastatingly seductive Transylvanian prince (Gary Oldman) who travels from Easter Europe to 19th-century London in search of human love. When the charismatic Dracula meets Mina (Winona Ryder), a young woman who appears as the reincarnation of his lost love, the two embark on a journey of romantic passion and horror. Now presented in full 4k resolution, experience this sensual gothic spectacle like never before.

2. MISERY (1990)

synopsis: Sick of his 19th Century romantic heroine, Misery Chastain, novelist Paul Sheldon (James Caan) kills her off and writes a more personal, modern novel. When his car crashes in remote mountains he is saved by ‘number one fan’ Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates), who adores Misery and has even named her pig after her. As she nurses him back to health at her remote dwelling, he realises she is not just going to let him go…

3. IT (1990)

synopsis: Tommy Lee Wallace co-writes and directs this two-part miniseries based on Stephen King’s novel. In 1990, a group of seven childhood friends, known as The Losers Club, reunite to combat a mysterious threat which they had thought was long since buried. Lurking in the shadows, and preying on their innermost fears, a shape-shifting, supernatural predator, manifesting as a killer clown called Pennywise (Tim Curry), prepares to strike again. NOTE:The disc in fact is double sided so requires to be flipped for the second part.

4. THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT (1999)

synopsis;  Three film students travel to Maryland to make a student film about a local urban legend… The Blair Witch. The three went into the woods on a two day hike to find the Blair Witch, and never came back. One year later, the students film and video were found in the woods. The footage was compiled and made into a movie.

5. SCREAM (1996)

synopsis;  In the small American town of Woodsboro, a psychotic freak with a love of horror flicks murders teenager Casey Becker (Drew Barrymore). The killer then begins terrorising Casey’s classmate, Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), whose mother was murdered a year earlier. When Sidney encounters the stalker and escapes, her boyfriend Billy (Skeet Ulrich) is arrested. However, the phone calls and killings continue.
