Self Care Sunday #1

Welcome to the first of a new feature on the blog, it is something I have been thinking about doing for a long time, but never got around to doing.
I think self care is important for everyone, young and old and everyone in between. It is also something that I admittedly do not practice regular, in fact the only self care I really do it reading endlessly.
What is Self Care?
So according to WHO defines self-care as “the ability of individuals, families and communities to promote health, prevent disease, maintain health, and to cope with illness and disability with or without the support of a healthcare provider”.
That is the broad definition of self-care, for me self-care is taking that time out to reset my mental health, ground myself and just generally do things that I want to do rather than what I have to do
Why Self Care Sunday?
Sunday is the end of the week, a day of rest if you are at all religious and the day to reset and relax before the new week starts. I know some see Sunday as the beginning of the week but I will always see a Monday as being the start of a new week purely because of the kids going to school.
Self Care Ideas
- Get outside into nature
- Have a bubble bath.
- Read a book.
- Try meditation
- Yoga
- Watch a funny movie
- Journaling
I am sure the list is endless, but these are off the top of my head that I hope to practice.
Over the coming weeks I am going to dedicate some time on a Sunday just for me, just an hour or two and see what effect it has on my mental health and general wellbeing. Check back in next week to see what I managed to do self-care wise today.

What is something you do to practice self care?
This post is part of the #blogtober21 series be sure to check back for more instalments.

I always have a lazy day on a Sunday. I don’t usually even switch my laptop on until mid-afternoon. The break from blogging and social media is good. I hope you find some time to yourself today x
I always practice self care by reading or just allowing myself to relax. Happy Sunday!
Yeah I love to read and always got my nose in a book (well kindle app) its definitely one of the best ways for me to relax x
It’s something I’ve started to practice more due to a chronic pain condition. At first I rolled my eyes at the thought of meditation but it does start to have an effect.
I’ve started following you, so I look forward to hearing more.
I have tired and failed at meditation so many times until someone said to me that there is no wrong way to mediate to start with and eventually I will begin to tune out the “noise” in my head, it is definitely on my list to practice x
Sunday is such a good day to reset and refresh!
