Today was an emotional morning for me.
Today my not so little wee boy started school for the first time!
How did this happen? Where has the last 5 years gone?
He is so ready for school, yet he still seems like my wee baby. He was absolutely fine walking to school today and settled into the class really well. Think he enjoyed seeing all his friends from nursery who were moving up as well, and there a few from the morning nursery class that had swapped from the afternoons that he had missed, so it was good to see them all play together in playground before hand.
We were allowed into the classroom this morning with him to see him get settled and see what it was like , way better than what I remember from my first day lol there were toys on the tables for the kids to play with, no blackboard in sight it is all these smart boards now. Kids don’t know they are born these days! Lol
He started at 9:30 am until 12 noon – just a few hours to break them in gently, same goes for tomorrow and Friday but come next week he will be in the whole day 9-3.
I managed to hold it together and not cry, even though I was tearing up and close to letting them go, this is such a huge milestone for the wee guy and for me since is his my first going of too school and the first to spread his wings.
I wish him well through school and only hope if any problems (god forbid) arise he will tell me about it, school can be scary but it is going so great for him at the same time. We are debating what to do with regards to walking to school, when the time would be right etc it is a straight route there and back that all the kids do and I was thinking about eventually meeting him halfway on the path at home time maybe once or twice a week. But it is still early days, can cross that later 🙂 Stating school is all about his journey to becoming a little bit more independent, but just how much is hard to work out at his age 🙂
In just over a year and a few months Mix will be heading off to nursery then it wont be long until I am sending him off to school and I will be a pro at this school thing 🙂
