Netflix Binge Watch – January

New Year, New Shows to binge watch. Second to reading Netflix is my other guilty pleasure, and I am working my way through shows that are on “My List” and movies as well as getting all excited about all the coming soon ones.

Januarys Binge Watch included the following:

YOU

Synopsis:

What would you do for love? For a brilliant male bookstore manager who crosses paths with an aspiring female writer, this question is put to the test. A charming yet awkward crush becomes something even more sinister when the writer becomes the manager’s obsession. Using social media and the internet, he uses every tool at his disposal to become close to her, even going so far as to remove any obstacle –including people — that stands in his way of getting to her.

Based on the book You by Caroline Kepnes, which I haven’t read so I cannot compare the two. But this series sucked me in, it just show how easy it is for someone to find everything about a person via their social media accounts and also that much of what is posted online isn’t a true reflection on the persons real life.

But ultimately that isn’t what this is all about, Joe sets his sights on Beck and does everything he can to instil himself into her life. Stalking her so he knows her habits, the places she frequents etc.

Triggers: Strong Violence, Sex, Sex & Suicide references, drug misuse and language

The Good Place

Synopsis:

When Eleanor Shellstrop finds herself in the afterlife, she’s both relieved and surprised that she’s made it into the Good Place. But it doesn’t take long for Eleanor to realize she’s there by mistake. She hides in plain sight from the Good Place’s architect Michael and his all-knowing assistant Janet. Her seemingly perfect neighbors Tahani and Jianyu and open-hearted soul mate Chidi help her realize that it’s never too late. With the help of her new friends — and a few enemies — Eleanor becomes determined to shed her old way of life in hopes of discovering a new one in the afterlife.

I cant believe that I had waited so long to watch this show! I wasn’t really sure what to expect from it, but it was great!
I remember going “What the fork!?” at the end of the first season as I did not foresee that twist coming at all.
Season 2 & 3 were just as good and I hope there is more to come, I need to know how Eleanor and the gang are going to get out of the situation they have been thrown into

The Mist

Synopsis:

An unexplained mist slowly envelops the town of Bridgeville, Maine, creating an almost impenetrable barrier to visibility. The residents of the town soon learn the situation is even more precarious as unexplained anomalies and phenomena in the mist attack and kill most who enter it, trapping several groups of people in a shopping mall, a church, and a hospital. Eventually, people begin to see apparitions in the mist from their past, fears, or guilt that help or kill them depending on how they react.

Based on the Stephen King Novella, I thought I would love this, but it fell short for me. The acting was little off and some of the special effects were missing the effects – the moment when the woman with no jaw slams into the mall door then gets pulled back leaving a nice clean glass door as the kinda things I am talking about.,.,….

I kinda hope there is a second series as there are still so many unanswered questions.

Superstition

Synopsis:

The series tells the story of the Hastings family, the owners of a funeral home and the cemetery in the mysterious town of La Rochelle, Georgia. The family provides additional services for the aftermath of dead people killed by demonic infernals.

I truly wanted to love this series, it appeals to interest in the supernatural etc, but this also fell short. It was a poor mans take on the show Supernatural and the special effects were most definitely of the bargain basement variety.
I dont think I would watch season 2 if there is ever to be one made.

Finished the Series:

Yeah I am not going to lie I cried like a baby at the final episode! Elijah and Klaus were my faves and what they did shows true brotherly love…. I’m not going to spoil it for those who have seen it. But I truly wish it wasn’t the end of the Mikaelsons.

Any recommendation on what I should binge watch this month?
