When you go to bed you’re not going to be able to keep an eye on your baby all night. And this can play on some people’s minds. It’s difficult to get good rest when you’re worrying about how your baby is getting on. And that’s why it’s so important to use a baby monitor as much as possible. This provides peace of mind because you’ll be able to hear all that sounds from your child’s room. And if they start to cry in the night you can hear it and deal with it. It will relax you and give you peace of mind, and this will help you sleep better.

Scratch Mitts!

No for you, for the little one! Babies don’t think in the way that we do because their brains aren’t fully developed yet. And if your child has itchy arms they will scratch them and make them raw. This will cause them a great deal of pain and discomfort and they will be restless. This in turn means that you are going to be up all night trying to deal with them. So, the best thing to do is to get some eczema mitts that you can use for the child. That way they won’t be able to get the mitts off, and they will protect their skin. As a direct result, you will have fewer disturbances, and you’re more likely to sleep well.

Take it in Turns

The best way to live with your new baby is to share the load. Now, it might be natural to want to take care of everything yourself, but you’re only human, and you need rest. So, the best thing to do is to share responsibilities with your partner at night-time. Take it in turns to get up and feed, change or burp the baby. That way you are more likely to get a decent night of rest than if you are the one getting up all the time. Make sure you come up with a routine that you’re both happy with to help you

Don’t Go to Bed Too Late

These days it’s easy to get carried away and forget about the time. And for us mum’s there is just so much to do. Once we finally get the baby down to sleep, we have to get through our household chores like ironing before we settle down to a glass of wine and Corrie! But, sometimes it can be 11 pm before you know what’s happening. And you need to be wary of this because you should try to get to bed at a reasonable hour.

Mum’s find it tricky to get enough rest as it is these days. There always seems to be something that needs to be done. And you need to understand that baby has to come first. However, it’s still important for you to look after yourself as much as possible as well. So, make sure you do what you can to implement these suggestions and get the best night’s sleep you can get.
