Well after the shit day yesterday of losing the referendum I received more bad news that my friend had passed away after her fight with stomach cancer.
That’s right C is for Cancer.
Cancer is a bitch and it has taken so many people whom I love away, or is in currently in remission with a few.
It a horrible nasty disease that doesn’t care if you are old or young, black or white. In this day in age it seems to be getting worse before it is getting better. With the advancement in science and funding, you would think they would be closer to a cure by now. But that seems so far away and so many families need to lose loved ones to it until that day arrives.
I have lost my papa and Lee’s dad to cancer, and 3 are currently in remission from breast cancer one being Lee’s granda.
My friend was only in her 40s at least 10 years older than me – yes she has/d children, 18 & 21 (i forget the ages but they are certainly not babies by any means) but no matter how old they are they still lost their mum, and there wasn’t a thing they could do 🙁
She battled for a year after being diagnosed, and when we last all met up in June I could see she wouldn’t have much longer, despite her optimism at possibly returning to work a few weeks after we met up.
We werent “best” friends, but we went to uni together and even when I left the course and she and the others continued on we all kept in touch. We may have only all got together every 6 months but when we got together it never felt that long.
I feel so sorry for her hubby and the boys right now, but heaven has gained s good person and I hope she didn’t suffer any pain.
